Lemon bars (First they’re sour, then they’re sweet)

I first published this post in 2012, but decided to update the recipe a little bit. Enjoy! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE all things lemon. You can almost always find a bag of sour patch stashed somewhere in my room because I crave sour flavors constantly! These bars have (in my opinion) the perfect amount of sour and sweet and are super easy to make. Ingredients: 1/2 C softened butter 1 C white sugar 1 and 1/8 C all-purpose flour 2 lemons juiced (about 1/4 C juice) 2 eggs 1 t. vanilla Recipe for crust: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F 2. Lemon quinoa kale salad

This is my go to salad for work. There is nothing complicated about it, but it’s healthy and it preserves well in the fridge. I honestly make it all the time because it’s one of those salads that doesn’t leave you feeling hungry two hours after you eat it. Ingredients: Salad 5 oz kale and spinach mixed together 1/2 large lemon juiced 1 C cherry tomatoes halves 1/2 C quinoa cooked and cooled 4 mini sweet bell peppers 1/2 C artichoke hearts 1 can garbanzo beans drained goat cheese/avocado optional for creaminess Lemon Vinaigrette …

I hosted a little pre-pride get together and thought it would be awesome to have something fun & sweet for people to enjoy. This rainbow tart is incredibly easy to make, because it takes no baking at all! Plus its a fun, colorful way to enjoy some amazing seasonal fruit. I picked up the fruits I used at the SF ferry building farmers market- strawberries, apricots, pineapple, green grapes, and blue berries!                       Ingredients: 1.5 C…

    A Madhatter Cake!

This weekend I attended my friend Meera’s Madhatter themed bridal shower. She asked me to make her a whimsical and fun cake incorporating floral flavors in green, pink, and black. Here is the final product: The green & black layer is Lavender-Lemon cake and the pink layer is a rose cake. Both are covered with a vanilla buttercream frosting and vanilla fondant.  Decorations are in buttercream and fondant except the feathers which are not edible. (Recipes to follow…) To assemble the crooked cakes, I used the 10 inch and 8 inch Mad Dadder’s crooked cake pans. I highly recommend them if you are looking to create this effect. After the 10…
