    Egg-less Pumpkin Spice Cookies

It’s Autumn in most of the world, which means it is basically summer in San Francisco. The warm weather definitely doesn’t stop me from enjoying all my favorite fall flavors, especially pumpkin. I’ve made the **easiest** version of pumpkin spice cookies before and shared them here. This recipe involves a few more ingredients (no boxed help), but results in super soft, chewy cookies that are perfect for fall. Ingredients 1/4 C brown sugar (I prefer dark) 1/2 C white cane sugar (plus 1 T extra) 1/2 C unsalted butter 1/2 C pumpkin puree (My favorite is Libby’s) 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 1/5 C flour (all-purpose) 1/2 tsp salt…

    Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies

What do you do when there is a rain delay during Game 7 of the World Series? You bake cookies of course. Okay, maybe this isn’t what everyones first instinct is, but it definitely was mine last night. I actually came across this recipe when I was in college and then remembered it because it appeared in one of my facebook memories from more than 5 years ago. Made me think it was time to bring this one back for fall. This recipe is SO easy it hardly constitutes baking. I honestly could make these with my 4 year old nephew as long as I operated the oven. I totally…

    Peanut Butter Cookies

These need no introduction- peanut butter and sugar, you can’t go wrong. These are easy and quick and the dough tastes amazing raw (though you might get salmonella from the raw eggs, but I like to live dangerously). Made these for a lab-mate’s birthday. The carry well and taste good even after a day or two. Ingredients: 1/2 C butter 1/2 C white sugar 1/2 C creamy peanut butter (I use organic, so its not very sweet. If you use generic, reduce the sugar) 1 egg 1 t vanilla 1 1/3 C flour 1 t baking soda extra white sugar on top Recipe:  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees…

    49ers (sugar) Cookies!!!

Happy New Year! I hope all of your winter holidays were as memorable as mine. I was able to make a quick trip to India for the wedding of a close friend and then travel through Indonesia with two very close high school friends of mine. I had a ton of family in town for the new year which was great and was the co-champion of a highly competitive family jenga tournament. All-in-all it was a great few weeks. To be honest, I was just too busy to really sit down and think about my blog, but it’s the new year and I’m back! In case you all weren’t aware,…

    Holiday Cookies!

I’m a huge proponent of baked gifts! They are personal and tasty while still being thoughtful. I also like the idea of spending time to create something you know your friends will use (or eat) especially when you have a good number of gifts to make. I wanted to create something for a bunch of the people who work with my lab in really important roles that often go unnoticed- the secretaries, technicians, etc. I decided to make a few tins of holiday cookies and some cookies in a jar to gift. For those of you who don’t know what cookies in a jar are, you basically layer all the…

Be mine (Valentines Day sugar cookies)

In my book Valentine’s day is just a good excuse to eat tons of sweets and chocolate and drink pretty girly pink cocktails.
