    Black bean dip

Pretty? No. Tasty? Definitely! This black bean dip is super easy to make and great to have around for bean and cheese burritos, seven layer dip, or enchiladas. I whipped up a bowl yesterday and used it as the base for a quick seven layer dip instead of whole black beans. It’s easy to make and super delicious! Ingredients: 2 cans of black beans 1 tomato, diced 1/2 onion, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 chipotle and adobo pepper (about 1 heaping tablespoon) 2 t. cumin 3 t. salt 1/2 lime juiced cilantro to garnish Recipe: 1. Thoroughly rinse the black beans. 2. Combine with tomato, garlic, onion, and chipotle pepper.…

    Buffalo Chicken Dip

The Super Bowl might as well be renamed “National Cheat-Day” because it’s the day everyone skips out on their healthy eating, trendy diets to eat amazing, delicious, unhealthy-but-totally-worth-it food. This recipe is absolutely no exception. Delicious? Yes! Healthy? Nope! Regardless, it does a great job of mimicking the flavor of buffalo chicken wings without the hassle and mess. Ingredients: 8 oz cream cheese (at room temp) 2 T ranch dressing or blue cheese crumbles 2 C shredded cheese (I used cheddar and mozzarella blend) 1/2 C frank’s red hot sauce (can adjust if you want more heat, but this is my favorite amount!) 2 Chicken breasts- cooked and diced finely…

    Tzatziki Dip

Tzatziki is like middle eastern raita… No wonder I’m obsessed with it. It’s really refreshing to dip pita or veggies into on a hot day and is SO easy to make. I’m pretty sure this doesn’t constitute cooking. It’s basically just an exercise in mixing things together, but it’s so good that I needed to share! Ingredients: 2 C greek yogurt 1/2 large cucumber, peeled & grated juice half a lemon 2 cloves garlic minced 1/4 C chopped dill 1 t each cumin, salt, pepper Recipe: 1. Great the cucumber finely. Some prefer to de-seed first. Allow the excess water to drip off so the dip doesn’t become too runny.…

    Muhammarra Dip

Muhammarra is a dip originally from Syria. Its a delicious mix of pomegranate, red pepper, and walnuts and really is a great combination of sweet and tangy with an amazing textural composition. My friend Christina (& her mom) make an amazing version of this dip that I am absolutely obsessed with. I created a recipe based on the recipe they shared and this recipe; I feel that this is the perfect make up for this dip in both texture and flavor. It’s a great party appetizer to serve with veggies or pita!   Ingredients: 1 large red bell pepper 1 C walnuts, finely chopped 1 T pomegranate molasses 1/4 C breadcrumbs…

    Superbowl Six Layer Dip #QuestforSix

The Superbowl is rapidly approaching and I can hardly contain my excitement!!! Normally, I am a big fan of making seven layer dip, but because the 49ers are looking to win superbowl number six this year, I figured six layer dip was more appropriate. FYI the normal seventh layer (that I skipped) is a fresh tomato pico de gallo layer. Here is a recipe you can use for this extra layer. Anyway, this dip is incredibly easy and fun to eat and share. It’s a good party favor and hardly involves any preparation at all. Honestly, I can’t realistically call this cooking. Ingredients: 1 can organic black beans 1/2 C…
