Brown butter chocolate chip sea salt cookies

Does anyone else feel like quarantine is a perfect excuse for weeknight baking? Not sure I needed an excuse, but since I’m home all the time, it has been nice to have sweets on the counter readily available as a treat after hours upon hours of zoom calls. This recipe is a perfect make-ahead dough that you can either bake all at once or bake in batches as you crave cookies. They have a beautiful nutty flavor from the brown butter and a salty sweet balance from the sea salt and semisweet chocolate. YUM! Ingredients: 1 C (16 T) unsalted butter (I like kerrygold butter best) 3/4 C dark brown…

    Poop-Emoji Cake

Normally, Poop and Cake should never be in the same sentence, but when your 6 year old nephew has an emoji birthday and requests a poop-emoji cake, that is just what you make. I wanted to create something easy for kids to eat, but that clearly fit the emoji-theme. The poop emoji cake is made of chocolate cupcakes frosted as one large cake. The eyes and mouth are made from airhead candies flattened and cut to size. The swirl at the top makes it feel like the cartoon-poop on every iphone keyboard. The smaller emoji cupcakes are mini-vanilla cupcakes covered in fondant. The googley eyes are ready-made and available at…

    Egg-less Pumpkin Spice Cookies

It’s Autumn in most of the world, which means it is basically summer in San Francisco. The warm weather definitely doesn’t stop me from enjoying all my favorite fall flavors, especially pumpkin. I’ve made the **easiest** version of pumpkin spice cookies before and shared them here. This recipe involves a few more ingredients (no boxed help), but results in super soft, chewy cookies that are perfect for fall. Ingredients 1/4 C brown sugar (I prefer dark) 1/2 C white cane sugar (plus 1 T extra) 1/2 C unsalted butter 1/2 C pumpkin puree (My favorite is Libby’s) 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 1/5 C flour (all-purpose) 1/2 tsp salt…

November was a really busy month- between a work trip to DC, applications, my sister’s wedding, etc I feel like I’ve been running around nonstop. I guess I feel that way most winters though and with the holiday season approaching, the to do list is not getting any shorter! I made these scones last week to take to a Santacon pre-party. For those of you that don’t know, Santacon is basically a day where most of the 20-somethings in SF dress up in santa outfits and run around the city. I wanted to make something that people could snack on amidst the festivities and scones seemed morning appropriate. Plus, who…

    5 baking must-haves

Okay so people always ask me what sorts of gadgets I have in my kitchen and to be honest, I don’t have many… but the few that I use I really really love. 1. A Stand-Mixer!!!! I have the Kitchen-Aid Stand Mixer which has absolutely changed my baking life. My sister Shalini bought it for me and it makes baking really fast and easy. It is a little pricey, but I promise it is worth it. It comes in really fun colors too!! (Sorry I took this photo off my Facebook and it is all blurry, but I love it anyway because it is right after I unwrapped my mixer!!!) 2. Good cake…
